Hydrogen
”out-pumping” setup
For existing pipelines that already face embrittlement, we offer a setup that consists of an electrochemical configuration that uses a proton-conductor and a counter electrode to “pump” hydrogen out of the steel, thus “healing” the material and recovering the mechanical and structural properties it had before being exposed to the hydrogen-containing environment.
Our wrap consists of three parts: (i) a surface catalyst that goes directly in contact with the hydrogen-damaged material, (ii) a proton-conductor (electrolyte), and (iii) a counter electrode.
Depending on the selection of the electrolyte, the H-pumping method can be utilized in both wet and dry conditions.
